At Home Experimental Portraits With Godox During Covid-19 Lockdown
I recently purchased the Godox 7" Standard Reflector along with barn door and honeycomb attachment. I mainly invested in this light modifier for my product shoots. It also comes with some basic color gels which I was not very interested in using.
However, few days back, I had a sudden spark of an idea to experiment with these gels to create something interesting. It may also be the boredom of being stuck at home during the Covid-19 lockdown that changed my mind. With the support of Priyanka, who is always fantastic in front of the camera, helped me create what I envisioned. The results were far better than I expected and it was a good reminder of how creativity is about looking for inspiration with what you already have and creating something good and meaningful out of it. I recommend giving it a shot when stuck at home or in a creative rut.
With two speedlights, mounted on S-type brackets, I attached the barn door along with the red gel on the left of subject and bare flash with blue gel on the right. I also used the silver side of my reflector (on the left) to bounce some of the light back to the subject. The images were shot at night, however, if you plan to shoot in the day, make sure to flag out the ambient light.
Equipment used:
